In the scripture when we see the term open heavens it has to do with the pleasure of God. When the peoples ways please the lord the heavens would give the rain which would cause their crops to grow and bring prosperity to the land. In this passage, it indicates a response of obedience. When the people responded to God the heavens were open to them. This is not just material prosperity, but the validation and nearness of Gods presence.
Simply put, as the fast comes to an end let us continue looking to God daily for his instruction and direction. When we follow his ways he has promised that open heavens would follow our lives.

Prayer: Lord help us to make your way a priority in our lives. Help us to look to you first and respond to your voice. Let your people experience a year of open heavens and fruitful blessings.
