Peace - Day 20

Philippians 4:6-7
6 Do not worry about anything; rather, on every occasion, with prayer and prayer, present your requests to God and give him thanks. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will take care of their hearts and their thoughts in Christ Jesus.

We live in a time when the word anxiety is prevalent. Living a life of fear, lacking peace, and living without contentment has increased. So much information is given to us through social media platforms. They tell us how to live or how our lives must be seen to be successful, which adds pressure to our lives. All of these things increase the worry and anxiety in our lives.

God wants us to remain in Him, and He will give us PEACE at all times. Paul teaches us to go to Him EVERY time and make our request known through prayer, but I love that he asks that we give thanks when we pray. Why? Because when we focus on the things for which we are grateful, God responds to this prayer of gratitude by filling us with his peace. That peace surpasses all understanding, thus showing us that once we are surrendered to Him, he will take care of all things, and everything will be for our benefit. Remember that our prayer is the expression of our dependence on His promises.

Prayer: Lord, help us to maintain a grateful heart so we can experience the peace you have promised to give to those who trust you. May we live in the promise of perfect peace, and may our thoughts be on things above. Holy Spirit, help me. In the name of Jesus, we pray, Amen.
