Intimacy with the Holy Spirit - Day 8

Ephesians 4:30; “Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God with the way you live. Remember that he identified you as his own, and thus he has guaranteed you that you will be saved on the day of redemption."
Ephesians 4:30 NLT

On one of his trips to Ephesus, the Apostle Paul asks the believers in that place a question: “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?  “No,” they replied, “we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” As Christians it is necessary to keep in mind that once we accept Jesus into our hearts, the Holy Spirit who is a Person came into our lives to give us power, consolation, encouragement, direction and most importantly, to have an intimate relationship of friendship with us, which is priceless, and must be taken care of like any relationship.

In today's text we are asked not to sadden our companion the Holy Spirit with our way of living by having wrong attitudes such as bitterness, anger, envy or dishonest behavior, including the way we speak.

One way to take care of our intimacy with the Holy Spirit is to live lives of purity, humility and unity; that will keep us in agreement and sensitive to his direction. The basis for intimacy with the Holy Spirit begins in agreeing with Him, the word of God tells us "Can two walk together, if they do not agree?"
Amos 3:3...

Prayer: Father God,  we approach you today asking you to show us everything in our lives that saddens your Spirit and prevents us from being intimate with Him. We repent from all those things that break your heart.
Teach us to live lives of purity, humility and unity in agreement with your Holy Spirit. We as this in your name, amen.
