Prayer for better habits - Day 11

“My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body. Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4‬:‭20‬-‭27‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Changing who you are is one of the hardest things to do. It’s impossible to do it on your own. Thankfully, we have a helper. The Holy spirit.

Step 1: in creating better habits is admitting that you need the holy spirit to guide you, teach you, and help you every day of your life.

Step 2: “where the mind goes the man follows” What you think about is what you will “do” or “become.” Think positive thoughts. If a negative thought pops in your head, cast it down immediately. Madidate on the word of God. By setting good “thinking” habits, your actions will follow.

Step 3: Replace your bad habit with a good habit.
Example:
Bad habit: You don’t eat healthy & can’t stop eating junk food.
Good habit: Replace the junk food in your pantry with delicious healthy food you will like.

Bad Habit: spends too much time on social media.
Good habit: set a goal of only logging into social media once a day, between 9:30pm-10:30pm. Every time you have the urge to log in, go to the bible app instead and read scripture.

Prayer: Holy spirit, I know that I am weak and in need of a helper... I ask you to TEACH me to be disciplined & set better habits. As I set better habits, I will be healthier physically, mentally & spiritually. Give me the strength to be consistent in whatever I do. Help me fall in love with better habits. Convict me if I take a wrong step and guide me in the right direction. I will turn my ear to your word and follow your ways. Amen
