Serving Others - Day 16

Luke 22:27 For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.

Have you ever been on an airplane and heard them mention all the scary things that could happen in the event of a crash? I was traveling one day, and before taking off, I heard something interesting. It was “if we lose cabin pressure, put your mask on first and then the guest beside you if they need help.” I understand that if you don’t help yourself, you can’t help others, but this question arose in me, do we live in a “me first” society?
Jesus’ idea of serving is if you want to be great, you have to get low. The scripture says that God exalts the humble. He doesn’t promote self-seeking and the prideful. The greatest in the kingdom are those who are willing to serve others without a promise of anything in return. Isn’t that the kind of love Jesus served with?

Prayer: Lord, help me to love like you love and put action to my love by serving those around me. Amen
